Mute Switch for Republicans Going Forward

Last night's debate between Senator Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence was an easier show to watch than the shit show that was the presidential debate, but only by a matter of degree. The most notable difference being that when Mike Pence was going over his allotted time, as he did for every question, he did it in a quieter tone of voice than his boss did. Otherwise it was clear that, going forward, the moderators of future debates, if there are to be any, must have a switch to kill the microphones of the candidates, but mostly for Donald Trump. Its clear that the R.N.C. or the Trump campaign or whoever it is that agrees to the rules for the debates on behalf of the President and Vice President simply lies when agreeing to the rules for the debates because they have absolutely no intention whatsoever of actually abiding by the rules! So, going forward the moderator of each debate must have the ability to kill the microphone of each candidate, and they must actually use it!

Astounding Hypocrisy

So, the President is right back to where he has been all along, downplaying the effects of the corona virus based on his own experience. "Don't be afraid of the virus," Trump says. Those are words easily spoken by a man who has access to the very best socialized medicine in the entire world. AND, all this while he is trying to roll back the Affordable Care Act and take away insurance for approximately six million people, during a pandemic. And because of the lingering effects of this corona virus, it becomes a preexisting condition which would bar millions more people from health care if the president has his way.

And don't worry, I know he hasn't done it, at least not directly, but I still have faith in the smallness and pettiness of this president and I still say he will find a way to insult or belittle people, directly, who have suffered this disease and who have died from it. He will find a way to say that people who died from this virus weren't strong enough or that it was somehow their fault that they died. You watch, he'll do it.

Full Speed Ahead!

Whoever advised Vice President Biden to stop running his attack ads in critical states should be fired immediately.  Just because Donald Trump is stupid enough to go and get himself infected is no reason to hold back anything. Now is the time to really put the campaign into overdrive and not let up til the day after the election. Do you really think the Trump campaign would let up on Joe out of some sense of trying to come together as Americans? Of course not, the idea wouldn't even enter their heads. But that's what the Democrats are doing. "This cannot be a partisan moment," says Vice President Biden, "It must be an American moment. We have to come together as a nation," he went on to say.
Very good sentiments, but let's not kid ourselves about how the Trump campaign would handle things if it were Vice President Biden who was sick and not able to campaign for at least two weeks. They would likely increase the number of attack ads, not decrease them!

Trump Gets Sick with Coronavirus!.......Snore.......

Is there anyone who didn't really see this coming? Seriously, why is this breaking news? The man refused to warn the country when the virus was initially discovered, deciding instead to "play it down" because he didn't want to "create a panic." He had no problem creating a panic over the caravan of Mexican rapists and drug dealers assisted by members of ISIS that never showed up. The President creates panic wherever he goes. Anyhoo, back to the point: He played down the virus, he refused to follow the recomendations of his leading scientists by refusing to wear a mask. None of the people who surround the president wore masks because the president would make fun of them for wearing a mask, much the same way he did during the event commonly refered to as a "debate," when he made fun of Vice President Biden for wearing "the biggest mask you've ever seen." During his rallies few people wore masks and social distancing was not practiced. All of this while being a fat man who is over seventy years old. The man was practically begging to get sick, and, once infected, was pretty much destined to be a "super-spreader" event anywhere he and his retinue went. We know this is true because of all the Republicans who travelled recently with the president that are now testing positive for the virus. When the president survives the virus, and he will survive because he has the best socialized medicine in the world, I am willing to bet you, right now, a shiny new quarter that Trump will go on to ridicule somehow the people who died from the illness for not being strong enough or not having what it takes to survive. You watch, I bet you.....

The White House Used as a Cheap Political Backdrop

I agree with MSNBC’s Claire McCaskill when she says her heart is broken by seeing the White House used as a cheap political backdrop. I don’t believe I’ve seen another president do such a thing in my lifetime. Can anyone else remember the last time a sitting president used the People’s House in such a way? And when he came out to give the rant of lies that was his acceptance speech, he looked like he was trying so hard to be like his boss, Vladimir Putin. Or one could compare him to some sort of Third World dictator who uses the trappings of power to try to stay in power. And at the end of Trump’s speech when all his family were lined up with the People’s House behind them, I threw up in my mouth a little because they looked like they were actually trying to present themselves as some sort of ruling family, just like the dictators and demagogues Trump admires so much. Finally Trump let everyone know that he intends to continue to govern as though he were president to only those who voted for him when he said, “We’re here, (in reference to him and his supporters) and they’re not (meaning everyone else).”
